Cosmetic Medicine Chermside
Cosmetic medicine services at our clinic are provided by Dr Hira and Dr B Jagadeesh Kandangath, experienced General Practitioners with additional training and clinical interests in skin and dermatology-related care. All treatments are tailored to the individual, following a thorough consultation to determine suitability and appropriate options.
PRP (Platelet-Rich Plasma) and PRF (Platelet-Rich Fibrin) are non-surgical cosmetic treatments that use components drawn from the patient’s own blood. Corrie Street Medical Clinic in Chermside, we offer PRP and PRF treatments for both the face and scalp, available on Fridays by appointment.
These treatments are part of a growing area of cosmetic medicine that focuses on non-surgical approaches to skin and scalp concerns. Because they are derived from the patient’s own blood, they are considered autologous in nature and are explored as part of a personalised consultation before any treatment is recommended.
Patients experiencing concerns such as changes in skin quality, fine lines, volume loss, or hair thinning may wish to explore whether PRP or PRF could form part of their care plan. A consultation is required prior to any treatment, during which suitability, the areas of concern, and all associated costs will be discussed in full.
In keeping with AHPRA and TGA advertising guidelines, specific treatment details and pricing are not published online. All information is provided during your consultation.
Platelet-Rich Plasma (PRP)
PRP is prepared by drawing a small sample of the patient’s blood and processing it to concentrate the platelet-rich plasma. This concentrate contains growth factors that are explored for their potential role in supporting skin and scalp concerns. PRP is used in both facial rejuvenation and scalp treatment contexts and has been incorporated into cosmetic medicine practice for a number of years.
Platelet-Rich Fibrin (PRF)
PRF is a second-generation platelet concentrate that uses a different centrifuge process to PRP, producing a fibrin matrix. This results in a concentrate that may have different release and consistency characteristics compared to PRP. Like PRP, suitability for PRF is assessed individually during consultation and treatment is tailored to each patient’s concerns.
PRP and PRF for the Face
Patients with concerns relating to the face, including changes to skin quality or texture, fine lines, or early signs of ageing, may wish to discuss PRP or PRF as part of a facial treatment plan. Our clinic takes a considered approach to cosmetic medicine, focusing on natural-looking outcomes and individual suitability rather than a generic treatment model.
Areas commonly discussed in facial consultations include overall skin quality, surface texture, expression lines, and concerns around facial structure or volume. Treatment plans are developed on a patient-by-patient basis and discussed in detail prior to any procedure.
PRP and PRF for the Scalp
For patients experiencing hair thinning or changes to scalp health, PRP and PRF for the scalp may be explored as part of a broader approach to hair health. Hair loss has many underlying causes, and a consultation will take into account the patient’s full health history before any treatment options are discussed.
Patients with hair loss concerns may also find relevant information on our hair loss treatment page.
What to Expect at Your Consultation
A consultation is the required first step before any PRP or PRF treatment at Corrie Street Medical Clinic. During this appointment, your doctor will take a thorough history, discuss your concerns, and assess whether treatment is appropriate for your situation.
All treatment recommendations, expected outcomes, and costs are discussed transparently at this time. There is no obligation to proceed, and no treatment is administered at an initial consultation.
